Prusa i3 - X axis skipping

Hi,

I have been using Prusa i3 as my printer for about 3 months. We had minor problems so far, nothing unfixable. But now, the X axis has started skipping, always away from the endstop. I am sure that it's not the belt. The motor is not getting hot at all. The last skip was 3 cm, and that worried me.

Any suggestions?

You talked about the belt, but what about the pulley in your motor? The locking bolt might be loosened or worn allowing the motor axle to slip inside?

I tried to rotate the pulley and it didn't seem like it was slipping. I will tighten it as much as I can and try again. Also, I thought I was using too much memory because I was running an 3D modeling software, but without any software running other than pronterface, it still has the skip every now and then...

Looks like that was it. I guess i should lower the acceleration and buy new locking bolts for my pulley. Than you ggherbaz! smiling smiley
