Extruder not getting any traction

It seems I have a problem with the extruder not gripping the filament.

When doing a print, almost no filament comes out of the hot end. If I disengage the extruder and push the filament by hand it extrudes just fine, so there is no jam. When the extruder is running I can see the motor shaft turning fine, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with power, but rather slippage on the filament. I've tightened it, loosened it, and nothing seems to make any difference. Any ideas?

I think I found the problem. The set screw on the extruder gear was loose and allowing the gear to slip. I haven't tested it yet, but fairly confident that was the problem.

That was it. the printer is FINALLY working. Yay!
