What Infill percentage for strong parts (e.g. Guidler)?

Hi,

I'm having trouble with my Guidler prints. They (seem to) print OK but the hinge has been breaking (cracking) when I tighten the top nuts. I'm printing with PLA.

Can I have some votes for what infill percentage people use please?
(or any other thoughts on the problem smiling smiley

Thanks

Pete

For my strong parts I print 50-100% depending on what the part is.

Depending on the size of the hinge and location of the crack, the area might already have a 100% infill. Try pre-drilling the hinge so you know it is printing at the correct size, possibly pre-tap it as well if you have the tools.

Where I have had similar problems the cause has most commonly been poor interlayer adhesion. This can be faulty filament or incorrectly set up temperature or flow rate. Try doing a calibration with that material and perhaps a test piece that you can do a purely subjective "rip it apart with a couple of pairs of pliers to see if it feels puny" test.
