Repeated Banding on Vertical Walls

Repeated Banding on Vertical Walls
July 06, 2014 03:00PM
I have had my Prusa i3x for about 7 months and as the overall quality of the prints has improved, they only imperfection is minor banding which really ruins the aesthetics of the print finish. I have tried many things including making sure the motors are not "rounding" steps and the callibration is near perfect. No matter what I have tried, (different infill / layer height / temperature / cooling) the banding is present. Attached is a picture of my 3d printer z axis coupling as well as a cube with a vertical light source to highlight the banding printed in MakerBot PLA at .2 layer height and 15% infill. The banding does match the thread pitch which is an m5 course thread.
