Print Recommendations

Please take a look at this photo set and recommend and adjustments.

Here is my setup:
Reprap Mendel
J-Head Hotend
Pronterface
Slic3r

Material: ABS

My first though is that I may be extruding too much. However, My calibration on the E axis indicates that i am extruding less then 10mm for 10mm movement

What size is the nozzle in the J-head?

The head has a .5 nozzle

To get the level of quality of the part pictured in thingiverse, you will need to upgrade to a 0.3/0.35mm nozzle.

But here are some suggestions for you:

Skeinforge has more fine-tuning options than slic3r does
it looks like you are extruding too much in some places and too little in other places, that leads me to believe your hobbed bolt is slipping.
get your prints looking good going slowly first, then speed it up.
The blobs in the corners probably means you are using sprinter, upgrade to marlin.

Thanks a lot... I am going to try some of your suggestions. I will take a look at my hobbled bolt and see whats going on. Maybe i just have to tighten my screws on the extruder to allow it to grip the ABS better... I forget if ABS was tighter or PLA... I will try it...
