My extruder motor is running very fast at 3000 speed in RepSnapper, about 1 rev/sec of the large gear. I went through the configuration.h in my Sprinter firmware, ramps 1.4. Nothing stands out as being set wrong, but I think I missed something in the firmware somewhere.

The standard extrude speed in repsnapper is way, way too high when using volumetric dimensioning. Try lowering it to 100, that should do it.

I'll also suggest you try out pronterface instead, which is a more up-to-date host software.
