I talked to my colleagues at the University of Leoben about what material to use for the electrodes in the electron gun - mainly the Cathode.
For the planned high Power gun is tungsten infused with copper. The copper holds it together until heated up, then vaporizes. This leaves the pure tungsten electrode in place. Unfortunately It will have to be replaced every time the gun is shut down.
