Slic3r and Marlin: Alternatives to Skeinforge and Sprinter

Okay, I've been using slic3r lately more than skeinforge. Now there is a new slic3r version out and I'm almost ready to drop skeinforge completely. Slic3r is way faster, often uses less filament, and is easy to configure. Check out http://slic3r.org/ for more info. The only thing it lacks is the ability to do support material.

Also related, I'm going to try again to switch from sprinter firmware to marlin. This shows why:

Has anybody been able to use marlin on their sanguinololu 1.1 board? Last time I tried I could move everything, but the temperature was not reading correctly. I think I need to change something in the configuration.h file.
