Interested about Reprap

Hello, my name is Steven, I'm a computer engineer of 2/3 years in college, and am planning on making the conversion to Robotics. I recently moved out here to Edmonton and heard about the RepRap. If anyone is able, I'd like to learn more about RepRap in general and about obtaining the many parts required the RepRaps construction, (with a students income in mind 
)
I've heard of loan programs though I have no idea who or how to go about it.
My interests in the RepRap come in two fold, to further my future education on robotics, and aid with school and personal projects, the second would be to contact my college, and share my information on RepRap to them. For anyone whos gone to school for Electronics and such should know all too well with the lack of resources some schools have for hands on learnings. I'm almost certain after reading up on RepRap, it would be invaluable for colleges and even high schools.
