A large vote of thanks to Simon for getting this working. :-)

It is a really great improvement.

Yours

Agreed! 3 Cheers!

The developers mailing list is being archived at:
[forum.voodoo.co.nz]
And we can post to the list via that forum.

Users mailing list is being archived at:
[forum.voodoo.co.nz]

Teething troubles:
* With some messages, there's some weirdness where the forum doesn't say who
the author is; for example this thread:
[forum.voodoo.co.nz]
posted
Posted by: (via email) (Unregistered)

I think this occurs when people post to the mailing list, but have never
logged in to the forum, so the forum doesn't know who they are. If this is
the case, having that user log in to the forum will fix this issue. This
also occurs when a user has a different email address for the mailing list
and for the forum, like in zach's case. Zach can fix this by logging on to
[reprap.org]
and changing his email address in the form there.

* Forrest's email "Dark thought about support materials"
[forum.voodoo.co.nz]
has contains none of the text of his email, but my reply, via the forum, does.
This is happening because the forum software is choking on the html sent by
Forrest's mail client, which I think is a webpage-driven email client at
yahoo.com. According to this post on the phorum.org support forum, phorum
should be able to handle html emails, as long as there is a plain-text
version sent as well. Yahoo does this, so I'm not sure how to resolve this.

*According to [reprap.org]
[reprap.org] should contain the mailing list archives.
This is not the case. [reprap.org] should redirect to
[forum.voodoo.co.nz]
or rather, [forum.reprap.org] once we have the subdomain
working.
Ditto for [reprap.org]

*[reprap.org] is world-readalbe, via the
archives, but only we can post to it. We should paste up a polite note
explaining this, and redirecting folk to
[reprap.org]
when they try to contribute. We already had a guy, "lifeless" aka Robert
Collins, come in to the #reprap channel (on the irc server at freenode.net)
to say he wants to contribute and how does he join the developers mailing
list? He was politely amused when we tried to explain that the developers
mailing list was only for the old guard. He spent a little while gently
chiding us, saying that's not really appropriate for open source projects.
*shrug* I assume everything will change after the 1.0 release.

*#reprap irc channel. Simon, if you want I'll set up a chat logger like the
one here:

Aside from those teething troubles, it all seems to work. Nice job, Simon.

Yes, though it seems to work a bit more cleanly if everybody just uses
the mailing list. The integration isn't perfect it seems smiling smiley

It would be great if everybody could sign up on the forums with the same
email address, so that the names show up and the posts don't look
anonymous. Please...

Oh yes, that's very annoying. All of Forrest's messages appear blank on
the forum.

I'll have to look into that I suppose. Yahoo... grrrr....
