Fimrware modifications to adjust heater timeout
January 26, 2016 12:19PM
Hi community, your help is required. My team is working on Mendel 3, we modified the extruder design of the printer, and highly increased the mass of the extruder, so it heats up much longer than the original extruder. The printer times-out before it reaches the required temperature. When I try to use M570 I receive the error massage as the maximum time-out is set to 120 seconds by the firmware. This means I need to modify the firmware. Firstly is anyone familiar with the firmware and can suggest what part of the code do I need to modify? Also can anyone suggest the simple way to build the firmware ?

Thank you.

Which firmware does your machine run? If it's RepRapFirmware then you just need to add a suitable M570 command in config.g, for example M570 S200 will set the timeout to 200 seconds.
