Two years ago, founder Steve Kumar saw a gap in the 3D printing industry between the consumer 3D printer market and the professional 3D printer market. “Commercial 3D printing and rapid prototyping for businesses is an expensive investment that big companies can easily afford, but small and medium businesses will a hard time justifying it’s high cost.”

QwikFab challenged itself with the goal of creating a middle ground of commercially viable and affordable 3D printing systems that can add value to cost sensitive businesses.

In traditional product development projects, each and every step must be carefully considered prior to launch. Without the ability to rapidly prototype, launching a new product is time consuming and risky because of it’s high upfront investment.

3D printing allows inventors and designers to innovate and be agile like a software company. Strategically enhancing their ability to quickly develop, “manufacture”, and subject the creation to testing with little investment other than labor.

The Beast is a 3D printing workhorse with a large build volume and two dual-pinch technology extruders and offers professional-level quality for office and industrial workspaces.

According to Steve, “With the Beast, small and medium businesses are able to justify the cost of 3D printing with its real benefits in project development and if that isn’t enough, substantiate the purchase with the Beast’s high return on investment.”

With reference to B.T. Wittbrodt, A.G. Glover, J. Laureto, G.C. Anzalone, D. Oppliger, J.L. Irwin, J.M. Pearce (2013), Life-cycle economic analysis of distributed manufacturing with open-source 3-D printers, Mechatronics, based on “clearly extremely conservative estimates”, a 3D printer printing 20 objects per year, the 3D printer would “provide an ROI between >20% and >200%”.

Small and medium businesses that actively use 3D printing as a rapid prototyping platform for their benefit will have substantially higher return on investment with QwikFab’s Beast.
