Silicone extruder

We are making an extruder for silicone to work with the Makerbot Replicator 2. We designed a setup using a plunger and a 10oz cartouche thanks to the info on this forum.

We want the step motor to be controlled directly from the mother board (I switched polarity so the threaded rod turns correct direction). Is there a female coupling that will connect the motor power from the motherboard to the Nema 17 that powers the extruder (see pic)? They are identical 6 wire ports with 4 wires attached, 26AWG.

Can anyone recommend a supplier?

Thanks,
Jo

Hi Jo,

this tools are named dispensers, not extruders winking smiley

Maybe you can find here some ideas for fixing and feeding - [reprap.org]

If you can't find the correct plugs, then use the Molex plugs used for powering CD/HD-drives (to find in old/outsourced PC's) or cut+solder the wires directly ...

Thanks, Victor.

Got the parts I needed from DigiKey, I'll post pictures when it progresses more.

Extruder...my mind is still stuck on our last invention:
