Zonestar D810B Endstop Issue
May 09, 2016 06:22PM
Hi Guys.

So my dad and me bought a China Delta from aliexpress.com. To be exact that one: [de.aliexpress.com]

We assembled it and started calibrating it. At first it took us a while before we noticed the endstop-settings where wrong. Switched it to normaly closed and now we can actually move all 3 steppers in both directions.

But now our Endstops are acting weird.

i sent a M119 to the printer while no switch was hit. Readings are x_max:L y_max:L z_max:L Z-probe state:H. So far so good.
But when i hit the x or y switch b hand nothing changes.
And if i hit the Z Switch readings are x_max:H y_max:H z_max:L Z-probe state:L
If Z and X are hit at the same time x_max:L y_max:H z_max:L Z-probe state:L
And if Z and Y are hit x_max:H y_max:L z_max:L Z-probe state:L

Sadly i can't figure out what i did wrong.

Any help or good guess would be nice
And if you need more information just let me know.

Regards
Balgur

I think you have connected the endstop switches to the MIN endstop inputs. On a delta you should connect them to the MAX endstop inputs.

Thanks for the reply

I already checked that but I'll do it again.
Maybe my dad did something grinning smiley

Will Report any progress.

Cheers

Something's wrong.

The switches I have are definitely normally open.

It does appear that you have X & Y back to front?

And some kind of short between Z and X/Y? Look for shorts/solder bridges on the board.

So... i checked the wiring again.
All Endstops are connected as described in the documention. (except Z-Probe cause the documents showed 2 different ways to connect that (once to -x and the other one to -z). Ofc -z is the logical choice here. grinning smiley

Also checked for solder bridges and shorts. No problem there. Everything is soldered nice and clean.

The problem is, if i change the Endstops to NO the carriages won't move both directions.
I could try that again but i doubt there would be anything different this time grinning smiley

I have to admit i'm a bit frustrated right now.

Try unplugging all the endstops from the board. What readings do you get?

Also, what is their reported status on the LCD?

Hi,

So after a break i continued to fidle with these Endstops.
Sadly i still can't get them to work correctly.

After i tried disconnecting all Endstops and updated the Firmware everything works fine.

I connected one Endstop at a time and it looks like the X and Y Endstops work just fine.
But as soon as i connect the Z Endstop everything goes wrong again.

Any ideas why?

M119 with only Z connected shows Z hit.

Edit: Ok so i run the printer with only Z max disconnected and it works as intended. Is it possible that my Z endstop is broken?

If you take the suspect Z endstop and plug it into (e.g.) the X endstop connector, does it work properly? If so, this suggests that the fault is on the controller board. If not, it suggests the problem is in the endstop hardware or wiring.

Also try a continuity test with a multimeter across the switch contacts.

The switch boards are cheap on AliExpress. Or you might be able to get Zonestar to send you a replacement?

To make some progress, you could take the switch board off the effector and use that for the Z+ end stop.
