Commissioning problem.
April 01, 2013 12:47PM
Hi, I've had a good search but can't find my issue mentioned anywhere.

I have almost finished building my first 3D printer based on a Rostock Delta.
I have installed the Marlin modified firmware and manually I can drive up and down and home with no problems.

However, when I select print it warms up the printhead, homes the 3 carriages at the top, and then tries to go upwards.???
I have tried this in Pronterface, Cura and Repetier and they all do the same.
It must be a config setting but I cannot find it.

Does anyone have any idea what's wrong or a working firmware they could post.

Many thanks

George

sounds like your motor-direction + homing direction is wrong.... there should be some sort of config entry for that (i am only "familar" with repetier so i do not know exactly where to find that in marlin..)

Hi seppineppi, thanks for your reply.
I have been going around in circles for a week now without managing to find the solution.
Everything I read tells me that the standard firmware with minor changes should work.

Could you post a copy of your firmware for me to try.
I don't need to use marlin, I just need something that works.

TIA

Finally got it sorted!!

I had converted some .stl's into gcode while I was waiting for parts to arrive from China.
What I hadn't realised was that these files also hold the specific printer configuration in the code and it wasn't set for delta geometry.

I have now re-generated the gcode and all seems fine when I use a pen to draw the first couple of layers. smiling smiley

Can't wait to finally put down some plastic.
