What would cause increasing Z height after hours of printing?

One or two days after hours of printing, the Z height increases 0.2 to 0.3 mm.
To have good first layer, I manually increase Z height before printing a model.
Yesterday the Z height was 172.37, today at Z 0, the nozzle failed to grab a test paper.
The nozzle was -0.3 mm off on the print bed.

Thanks in advance.

Thermal expansion perhaps?

When starting a new print after finishing another, I always either reset the Z=0 height using the Z probe, or run auto calibration.
