Who knows good sources for extruded aluminum profiles
and associated linear bearings, trapezoidal spindles,...
in EUROPE? (Germany would be best)
In the small volumes required to build a single machine.

I've been looking around for profile for a CNC machine, which I have had to shelve for the moment. I found these people, whose extrusions seem reasonably priced. I'd be really interested if you order from them, what their minimum order is, how accurately they cut to size, the quality of their service etc.

I'm using Bosch-Rexroth 20mm Aluminium Extrusions from KJN here in the UK - They are a really excellent company to deal with, and offer great pricing and cut to length service as standard!

KJN / [www.aluminium-profile.co.uk] have turned out to be the cheapest for me by a long way, as they charge by the metre and cuts are free. Most other places charge for cuts.

I'd like to chime in on US suppliers.
Grainger carries 8020. If you are lucky enough to have one within a reasonable distance, you can order it for deliver for the Will-Call Pickup and you can get it without the added shipping costs.
I mean, really, have you checked out the shipping costs that 8020 charges?

I get almost all of my metal odds and ends from Grainger. I'm lucky enough to have one about a mile away :-)

I haven't really priced things out in detail, but I see no way Graingers would be cheaper than a smaller company selling online, even with the added cost of shipping. Grainger charges premium prices for everything, I know this having dealt with them many times over the years for my job.
But, IF their prices on extrusion really are fair, maybe I'd give 'em a go. I have one about 1/4 mi. from work.
