Score another one for the Openbuilds

While I was finishing up a print a 40lb ceiling fan broke free from the mounting box and came crashing down on my printer.
I'm fortunate that the printer suffered no other damage than the X getting knocked out of line. I cleaned up the glass, re-aligned the X and it was back to printing in less than 20 minutes.
Had this been a MDF or acrylic framed printer i would be shopping for a new printer right about now.

Who installed that fan?

Was it used for print cooling? or creating a vortex of warm air?

I live in an apartment complex where maintenance considers rubber bands and duct tape to be the crucial items in their tool box. They expected two 8-32 screws with no other support to hold that fan in place. I have my printer on a kitchen table and thought nothing of the fan above it ever falling. I could go on and on about this place.
