time to show off the Prusa!

It's been about a month in the works, between calibration, printing, upgrading, etc... so when I nuked the atmega644p attempting to test a kill button on the sanguinololu, I took the time to clean her up and make her purdy while I wait for the replacement to arrive.

I call her Betty.

Still many improvements to be made. Linear bearings on the X and Z axis are next, once I can start printing again...

... it's limited in th esize of the building area and in stronger warping of bigger parts.

But there are some really big objects around assembled from smaller parts like a 3D-puzzle ...

so would making a bigger mendel with a large print area take care of the issue?
im actually conjuring up a full scale floor mendel printer that would print same area similar to an HP deskjet poster printer
has anyone else thought of this idea?

Very clean! But mounting the electronics on top of the Mendel like that gets in the way of the filament feed to the extruder.

Yeah - I didn't put much forethought into that part... it was no issue at all with 1.75mm filament. Looked like it might start to be a problem with 3mm, but turns out it isn't. The extruder would probably tear off my fingernail if it could - it's pulled through some tight windings on the spool.

I have plans to put a bigger, multi-spool carrier off the back of the frame in the future - going to start using 5 lb spools, and the current top holder won't accommodate that...

But thanks for telling me I did it wrong winking smiley
