Decided to make a new 3d printer...
January 30, 2015 07:37PM
Decided to strip my old 3d printer of its parts the other week and set about designing a new one from scratch. I have not yet plugged it in as I am in the process of printing mk2 of the table carrier (Mk1 had smaller bearings hoping to reduce the hanging weight however the bearings didn't seem suitable so went for the larger ones in mk2) however by next weekend I am hoping for it to be up an running smiling smiley
The table size is around 200x200 and is not heated. although would be easily modified to take a heated one.
Here are a few taster photos and Cad models of what it will look like though.
Let me know what you think.
I am open to any questions and criticisms (always looking to improve the design.)
Also here is my old machine: [forums.reprap.org]

I think it's great! Reminds me of the things in Tron... I would suggest a little wider base on the 'feet' to stabilize the build platform at min and max positions... smiling smiley

I like it. Looking forward to hearing (seeing pics would be nice) how it prints.

Hi again,
Have you made any progress?
Is it finished?
Are there ant snags or problems?
Would it be possible for you to make the parts, openscad or stl's availeable please, I would love to have a go at building this design.
Thanks for your time and efforts
Paul

Two bearings on each axis confused smiley
You need some very precise bearings ( and expensive too ) to get good print results.
That´s why most of the designs use three bearings.

I love the design you have for this printer.
I have been looking for something super minimalist in nature

What are the chances of getting the cad files for this design?
Or at the very least, permission to basically copy the design.
