Stuff I printed
April 19, 2012 06:54AM
I need a place to post pictures of things I printed, whether because I'm proud and want to show'em off, or because I need to communicate it to someone. Sounds like this forum fits that purpose, and as a bonus people like me who love to glance at pictures of prints will eventually enjoy it.

So here's a few parts I printed for Sp@ckler's TZ Huxley - sorry about the poor picture, the plastic is actually bright red (firetruck red from faberdashery).

Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.

Printed 4 raldrich's bar clamps for ifrisbie.

That's one of the first useful prints of my Prism.

Printed a mendelmax set for a fellow hacker.

Lilac pearl PLA and Silver ABS from diamond age. Will look good mounted on my friend black anodized profiles.

No problem, glad to help.

You might note this is for a mendelmax 1.5+ (whatever this means).
Also the X ends are not standard, but are for misumi resin nuts : [www.thingiverse.com]

Yes I'm building a MendelMax 1.5 also - the major difference is the Z motors are down the bottom but a lot of other parts are redesigned from the earlier models. I heven't decided what to use for x-ends yet but I just bought some acme rods and nuts so that is a start. I will use a different x-carriage and extruder to what you printed also, but these things are a lot like Harleys - everyone is unique.

Good job done. The mendalmax frame is pretty cool. I'm planning to make a 671 style blower that would actually pump air continuously, and also a small PC case for an upcoming giveaway.

The prism printed 2 parts sets for michaelc a third one is currently being printed.

Yellow translucent PLA is from Esunpla, the creamy one is faberdashery's glow in the dark (yellow I think).

On the left are :
1) with green tape : warped parts on first print attempt, I forgot that large asymmetrical parts sometimes need a heated bed even when done using PLA, especially during winter.
2) rejects from the yellow sets, due to that god-damn filament snapping so much...

Made a Double Fan Adapter for prusa i3 extruder - [www.thingiverse.com] - for Leski.

Video of first few layers [youtu.be]

There have been a problem with a few layers shifting mostly on the X direction, the hell if I know what happened there - especially since the printing head came back all well aligned after those few layers.
Hopefully it won't affect the item usability, apparently - from handling it - it seems it didn't change it strength.

That's my second rostock mini set, this time for ax2013.

All printed using "Warpless" ABS from an ebay shop I can't remind of at the moment. Note that warpless really means it, only warps a bit less smiling smiley

Mounted extruder details :

Verifying that this bowden/jhead interface from [www.thingiverse.com] looks functional :

Colin needed a replacement for this lock part - have no idea how you call those in English, around here it's a "gâche".

That part was no longer produced in those dimensions, so he designed it and learnt some Openscad doing so.

Then I printed a couple for him.

Testing new ABS filament from Filament 3D

Big layer height - 0.35 mm - large parts, warping still stayed under control.

Trying to print a couple of Manus but only one made it, my bad for trying to touch one during the print...

The survivor still printed out nice then - 0.1 mm layers.

I got a new camera and it is very good for macro pictures - and thus showing how my prints are not so perfect that my old eyes would like to believe.

Here is the finished rostock mini set :

And here are some close-ups to show imperfections. Nothing that would prevent the part to be used, just not looking so good I'd like it to :

This one was easy to spot.

Those tiny warpings only happened in some of the ABS parts :

One print got interrupted - Repetier crashed. Luckily it was early during the print, and it can be useful to show the internals.
