Hi everybody,

We are trying to build a big size 3D printer and how can we connect a encoder to our system to detect mis stepping in our system?

Is it possible to correct the stepping on system with encoder?

Our boards are RAMPS 1.4 and Sanguinololu 1.3a

not currently.

You would need to rewrite parts of the firmware.

Other people who have looked into this sort of thing tend to make themselves a new driver controller board, so the step, enable and direction lines are fed from the ramps into their new board which has the driver module and the feedback from the encoder. This board automatically corrects for any lost movement.
The ramps is none the wiser that anything happened.

This silly thing is, that you do lose steps, your still going to get a nasty blob, as correcting it is to late to avoid that. Just any further printing will be in the correct place.

Is there any example to do an external control board. I found an example with Arduino Pro mini but it is for DC motors.

Thanks
