A4988 driver not working near a relay circuit
March 03, 2015 06:53AM
Hi i am driving a stepper motor with a reprap A4988 driver in my setup i am also having a heater which is controlled by a relay.
I have to keep the temperature constant by switching the relay, some times the motor stops working or it just moves up and down irrespective of the program when the relay is switched on and off . I am using PIC microcontroller to control this set up.

I am not getting what is happening wether it is because of noise from relay, problem with ground or problem with earthing.
This happens only some times and not always.

Please help me out!!!

Noise is certainly a cause to consider. Keeping wires apart and also braiding them is a good idea: [www.reprap.org]

Ditch the relay and use an SSR or mosfet instead, depending on what voltage and current you are switching and whether it is AC or DC.
