Sanguinololu LCD?

Sanguinololu LCD?
December 25, 2011 05:30PM
Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience with wiring up an LCD to the Sanguinololu? I've searched around a bit but I can't find anything specific to this board.

Also, is Marlin the best firmware to use to support it?

Thanks for any help you can give,

I am looking into doing this as I would like to have it all stand alone with SD printing. Wiring up the LCD isn't an issue, but there doesn't seem to be enough pins for the LCD, SD and rotary switch. If I make any progress I will post up on here smiling smiley

I'm using this serial/I2C 16x2 LCD on my Melzi board (connected by two pin I2C):

It works good after som modification of the Marlin firmware
(The RepRapPro_Huxley branch of Marlin on my github, Malx122 )

But it also exist solution for bigger displays and keypads that can be attached by I2C. (Will probably require even more modifications)

thats cheaper than the one i found, but it lacks the extra I/O pins, i am still trying to figure out what to change in my firmware

Which board/chip are you using? as I can't manage to compile your version of the firmware and fit it on an ATmega644p

Sorry,
I had deleted the rest of the text sad smiley

Did someone succeed with serial 20x4 Displays yet? The files on github seem only to work with the 16x2?
I gave it a try with both types, but the 20x4 fails sad smiley

Or has done someone already a "complete panel mod" with the marlin firmware?
Pin assignments / reccomended wiring for:
-SDSL
- Serial (20x4) LCD
- rotary-push encoder

The board looks really cool.
Take a look at Revars' LCD/Keyboard for Gen3 electronics.
His firmware source code is available on github.

Hi Bob,
thank you for the link. That guy uses a 20x4 serial LCD smiling smiley
I'm wondering if a part of the code can be adapted to the marlin firmware...???

@dissidence maybe this link is helpful for the code: [forum.modtronix.com]

I don't know but I am about to attach exactly these modtronix LCD/Keyboard to my Mendel with Gen3 electronics.
I want to try using his modified Makerbot firmware as it is the least amount of work, but if I can't get it to work I may have to try integrating his source into a different firmware. At the moment I am using the old FiveD 201008.
