Hello all,
we all know the STL file format has it's shortcomings (no color, no material, only flat triangles, ...). At Cornell University they're working on a successor of this format: [
ccsl.mae.cornell.edu] . To be in fashion, they took XML ;-) For the rest, they have quite a few nice features integrated, even with future changes in mind. Best of the spec is: it fits into three to four pages.

groups.google.com] Even if the format spec. mentions a few big names, RepRappers shouldn't stay in distance, IMHO.
