Rotate object before carve?

Rotate object before carve?

I'm playing with skeinforge, and trying to get a gcode file for x-carriage-lower-1off but it comes out sideways, with the belt clamps on the bottom and the teardrop holes pointing to the left.

Is there an easier way to rotate it than import into 3D program, rotate and re-export?

feature request? no need for arbitrary rotation, just axis swap would be fine winking smiley

A Skeinforge option to pick which axis to slice would be nice, but I'm not sure when/if that would happen.

The easiest way I have found is to get Meshlab, open your STL. On the menu bar click Filters > Normals, Curvature and Orientation > Apply Transform. You can then rotate by 90/180 (or arbitrary) around the axis of your choice. Then just hit the freeze button and save.
