Over extruding blobs on Huxley with PLA

I'm getting quite good results on a new Huxley with PLA, however I have noticed that there are blobs of PLA appearing at odd places, where the head stops moving but the extruder keeps running, forming a blob of plastic.

This is not the x or y axis slipping as the part retains the correct dimensions and geometry.

There does not appear to be any pattern, but I would say I get one blob every 2 or 3 layers.

Any ideas why this happens?
