RepRapPro Mendel /w Melzi 2.0: Upgrade to E3D-V6 Hotend, question about thermistor and firmware

Posted by Heygs
Hi, I hope this is the correct place for this question.

I recently purchased the E3D-V6 Hotend to upgrade my hotend, in the assembly instructions they say I need to configure my firmware to the correct thermistor, I don't really know how to do this and at the moment trying to find guides on the web to learn more about it (not easy!). I have no programming experience.

I tried to figure out what type of thermistor my current hotend use. I know it's a 100k Thermistor but thats it.

But the new one is a 100K Semitec 104GT2 NTC thermistor, can I just plug and play? Or do I have to reconfigure something in the firmware? The Instructions does not say anything about Melzi 2.0.

Set PID values for your 100K Semitec 104GT2 NTC thermistor in Pronterface with:
M304 H1 B4267 R4700 T100000
Save this setting with M500, check settings with M503.

RepRapPro Marlin calculates temperatures on the fly. M304 Sets the parameters for temperature measurement.

Thank you Gurz! I appreciate it.
I'm slowly learning more about this side of 3d printing, even tho I've had the printer for quite some time.
