Problem withextruder on Hobbyking Fabrikator

Hi all,

Got a hobbyking Fabrikator which is having an extruder issue. When trying to extrude it judders and only extrudes a bit. It's almost as if the motor doesn't have sufficient torque. The extruder is direct drive, with a mega and ramps 1.4. The motor drivers are all set to approximately 1.4 volts.

Any thoughts anyone?

Hi,

Maybe the current going to the extruder is not set properly.
Maybe the hotend is not cooled properly.
Maybe the nozzle is corked.

The Fabrikator is a specific machine,
probably inspired by repraps, but not a reprap.
Do you have picrures of the board,
of the hotend and its cooling (without caps) ?

I have one of these along side my Mendel 3. Its an excellent printer once you sort it out.

I had the very same problem as you. In order to fix it, you need to adjust the (tiny!) potentiometer on the extruder motore driver board which is situated on the main board behind the display panel. You need to run a print job which requires a steady movement of the extruder motor, and adjust potentiometer until you get a good feed without juddering. Turning the potentiometer too high will cause juddering so you need to fiddle with it to find the 'sweet spot'.

Hope this helps
