Hi,

I just finish building my prusa i2 3d printer. The setup is as folows:

Prusa I2
RAMPS 1.4 with DRV8825 drivers
5pcs 42BYGHM809 stepper drivers
* Step Angle (degrees) : 0.9
* 2-Phase
* Rated Voltage: 3V
* Rated Current: 1.7A/Phase
* 5mm Diameter Drive Shaft
* Holding Torque: 48N.cm
* NEMA 17 form factor
ATX 12v-19A power supply.
Sprinter firmware

My issue is that Z axis is not moving, only making a wired sound. I try also to adjust the current on the driver but still nothing. Funny thing is that I test the motors with the RAMPS 1.4 test code and they are working.

Thanks for any help.

You are trying to move the Z-axis too fast!
Try 1 to 3 mm/s (60 to 180 mm/m).

I put 10mm/min and also 100mm/min and same thing. I will go with 60mm/min to see if things improve.

This is what I use in the frimware:

float axis_steps_per_unit[71.2,71.2,10240,700]

Considering T5 belt and pulley.

I guess your steps for the z-axis should be 5120 and not 10240. (M8 leadscrew, 1/16 microstepping, 0,9 degrees).

Yes you are right, but it only worked with 1024.

Don't know why...

oh my gosh! oh my gosh! oh my gosh! oh my gosh! smiling bouncing smiley

Now I know why I receive a bag of jumpers with the RAMPS, it was for seting the microsteping status of the driversspinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Initially was set to full step and that was the reason of not working. Now I set it to 1/32 and it work perfect.

Thanks.
