RepRapPro Tricolour and Kisslicer - Melzi Slave freezes

Hi all,

I wanted to try the Preassembled Secret Heart Box,
using slic3r i noticed that the toolpath somtimes wasn't alwayslooking as nice as it could be and treid KISSlicer which gave me a good looking Toolpath

But using this code the Slave Melzi always freezes (reports no temperature back to the master thus creating cold extrusion prevented errors and the led stopping to blink). It seems like it is always happening after one of the retract and prime occasions (but at different times during the print) the furthest i got is 2ed layer.

I was wondering if someone with a RepRapPro with Master Slave Melzi could try this code at his maschine, as it looks absolutly fine for me.

WARNING: The code is set for 0.3 nozzle and has a extrusion multiplier of 0.76
But maybe without any filament in the Extruder drive (like a dry run) you could test.

The Atteched File just includes the first few layers, as the complete File would have been to big.

Hopefully someone has some ideas.


PS:
-I normally use Absolute E, but relative E was for testing purpose to see if it helps.
-Some moves are quiet slow compared to what is possible, again it was for testing
bt these didn't help

There's an M106 command after the first retract, which turns the fan on, but fan speed isn't set. To eliminate the fan as the source of the problem, try doing another print with cooling turned off, or by editing the gcode and removing the M106 statements.

I gave your file a try... but my multi-mendel just complains "dud heater 1" slaver fail, and I can't be bother troubleshooting whatever is wrong with it this time....

Redo the firmware in case of corruption on both slave and master. (don't forget to have comms cable removed etc)

Then do a reset and print the data which comes off the stat report - those weird codes you've go are usually signs of bad serial data transmission (incompatible baud rate or 7 vs 8 bits)

reuploading the firmware was the first thing i tried when these probelms occured.
I'll post the startup code when I get back home.

Those values look sane.
Did you get the same lockup problem with the Slic3r? Or just KISSlicer?

If you can link or up load the stl, I'll run it here and see if it crashes my Tricolour.
I can also do a comparison on the gcode to see if we're getting the same codes.

I've also noticed that KISSlicer uses 0,0 as bed center, where the Tricolour treads 0,0 as Front Left.
so that would have to be change to bed center 105, 80 with bed size set to 210, 160

Sorry for the really basic stuff, but it is standard trouble shooting algorithm to start at basic tests, and from source, the either do linear or bisect test to confirm operational parameters of the test data. Once the basics are confirmed, then the search is narrowed...and without confirmation of basic parameters the troubleshooter is just jerking off into the wind....

generating the gcode with slic3r, i had some problems using the originla size and a 0.3 nozzle
slicing it with 0.5 nozzle the visualization looked better, also scaling it to 150% with 0.3 nozzle settings.
I successfully printed the 150% one

I uploaded parts of the failing kissslicer code in my first post, but the complete file exeeds the maximum filesize, butg furthest i got once was second layer.
I already configured Kiss with about 105,80 as center.


Next thing I will try is isolating the connection cable to the slave, maybe from other motors current gets induced in some way, but then it should freeze even with slic3r code

I was referring to uploading the STL, so I could do the processing with my settings to see if the it worked and/or the code was same. Gcode is list of individual movements so is always huge. The STL much smaller
