Prusa I3 rework choise of stepper Motor

Hello,

On this moment i'm busy to getting the parts for my Prusa I3 Rework. Now i'm at the point for buying the stepper motors, but here is the problem. I saw on the internet at the wiki what kind of motors there must be used, but when searching on this forums I did see a lot of answers and advises and now i'm confused. So now I ask here to get advise for my buy solutions.

First of all I would like to mention that I gonna use the A4988 stepper driver for the motors. Know I see a lot of motors on Ebay here is the selection I have made:

- Wantai 42BYGHW811
- 17HS4417
- 17HS8403N
- 17HS4401N

What kind of motors would be the best solutions for the Prusa I3 Rework and the A4988 stepper driver?

Look at amps and try to match the motors to the drivers. 4899's can only supply 1 or 1.5 A. If the drives can't provide the amps, the motors will not be able to deliver torque. So a high torque motor which needs 3A will not deliver a lot at just 1A.

Wantai 42BYGHW804 is much more suited to the A4988 steppers then the 811 which needs too much amps. I use the 804 and swapped my 4988's for DRV8825's and will never ever go back, perfect match. (running a custom I3 with 200x300 heated bed)

I have also used the 42BYGHW804 for 3 different Prusa i3's.

Got mine from AliExpress though I bought a lot of 10 (with free FedEx shipping to Canada)

No, the mentioned 804 motors from Wantai happen to be pretty much spot on Amp wise... even more so with a DRV8825

If you can find another brand with the same torque spec at low amps they might be just as good but that's hard to say without having them tested extensively.
