prusa i3 rework extruder and jhead Mk V

Hi all,

I have a Prusa i3 rework extruder and I am trying to mount a jhead from SainSmart to it. Has anyone done this? Is there an adapter? Do I have to remove the brass fitting?
Any help would be great.

That's not a JHead MK V. This link is to a real JHead MK V [www.hotends.com]

There is a brass fitting on the end of the Sainsmart that will be problematic with a Rework extruder. It looks like that's the guide fitting for a Bowden extruder and the stock Rework uses a modified geared Wade's extruder. If you can remove the brass fitting you might be able to get it to mount in the Rework extruder depending the size of the PEEK. If you can remove the brass fitting you might be able to fashion a mount plate if the grooves aren't the right size.

I am using a jhead from MakerFarm on my recent rework build.
Used the same jhead on my first i3 build as well.

I mainly print with PLA but it works well with PETG and ABS

If that picture is your hot end.
Whatever you do get rid of all that tape around the body of the head.
The kapton tape should just be round the heater block.
You need airflow to keep the body cool and the j-heads also benefit from a fan aimed at the black body.

Hey Gordon,

that is just the picture from the website. But the one they shipped is blocking some airflow, so thanks for the tip!!
