Prusa i3 Hephestos: Print slides on bed.

First time printer, first time poster.

I built the Prusa i3 Hephestos from a kit (http://www.bqreaders.com/gb/products/prusa-hephestos.html).

When I try to print, after 30~ seconds the printer pushes the print, and so it starts sliding off of the glass bed. I believe this happens when the bottom layer of PLA cools.
I have levelled the bed so that a sheet of paper can slide under the five points.

Can someone explain in relatively simple terms why this happens and how to fix it?

Thanks.

Why? The plastic isn't sticking to the glass well enough.

How to fix? Use a heated bed, and/or hairspray, gluestick, etc.

if your hotend pushes the print from the glass bed, your steps/mm for your z-axis is set wrong.

According to the URL that you posted:

If you do NOT have a heated bed then you can not print PLA on glass!

If (contrary to what it says on the website) you do have a heated bed (which I assume is the case) then you need to either raise the temperature (60°C should be fine) of the bed or the temperature of the extrusion.
I usually print PLA at 210°C.
When I am using support if I print at 200°C then it has problems sticking in one corner, if I print at 210°C it has no problems at all.

No heated bed, it didn't come with the apparently "complete" kit. Yet it did come with glass. What material should I print on then?

Put some blue painter's tape on the glass, see how that does. I don't remember if it needs heating as well or not.

Do yourself a favor and add a heating element.
PLA on heated glass works great!
