Prusa i2 dual direct extruders ?
September 10, 2014 10:33AM
Hi all

I'm thinking about upgrading my Prusa i2 to dual extruders but would like to keep a direct driven setup.

Are there any such solutions ? X-carriage plus dual extruder setup to fit a Prusa i2 or should I go to a bowden setup ?

Thanks in advance

Dual extruders is going to be heavy. Have you considered a hybrid (one bowden one direct)?

Thanks for answering.

Indeed I had not thought about that possibility but it does seem interesting.

Do you happen to know about any x-carriage design suporting a direct extruder plus a bowden ? I have a Gregs Hinged Extruder mounted on a standard (original) x-carriage.

And do you know if there are any extruder attachements to the two upper threaded rods that do not require the printer to be disassembled to be installed ?

Thanks
