Prusa i3 bent aluminium frame

Hi!

I am working on building a Prusa i3 rework, with a laser cut aluminium frame. But instead using additional supporters I would like to reinforce the frame by making some bended "wings" (flanges) at the sides and maybe at the top too.
For this I only can use 5mm thick aluminium sheet (this is the max thickness I can get bent).
Are there any issues or disadvantages with a design like this?

The only real disadvantage is that bent sheet generally isn't all that accurate, if you have holes on the flanges, they may be a few mm out.
It should be fine though.

Thanks for the answer, I have started the modeling, and I have further questions.
Because of the added flange, the remaining space between the X- motor and the frame is very little. Is it possible to assemble the motor backwards in the standard mount? So it would face with its axis at the back of the printer, and I could avoid redesigning the place of holes.

Can some tell me, how much space left between the standard 370 width frame and the motor?

i mean this part:
