Replacing Mechanical endstops with optical
May 04, 2014 02:14AM
Hello everyone,

I would like to replace my Z end-stop mechanical switch with an optical one and I found some extremely well built switch circuits on eBay. The only issue is instead of acting like the mechanical switch draining the sense voltage to ground it puts out +5v when the beam is broken. In order to switch the logic I think I need to change the value:
const bool X_ENDSTOPS_INVERTING
in the file configuration.h from false to true.

Is this the only value that needs to be changed or is this the correct one at all?

Thanks guys!

I tried changing the value and it seemed to have no effect.

How can I make it so when pin one of the end stop goes high (5v) that it stops. Currently it requires pin one to go low (0v) for this to occur.

Anyone?

Setting inverted for the endstop in the software is all that is required. What firmware are you using?
