Hobbed Insert

Ok, I've searched and searched these forums, but I havent been able to find the answer I need.

I'm sourceing my own reprappro version of the mendel (tricolour) and I'm trying to find a source to purchase the "hobbed insert" that is mentioned here:

does anyone know anything about that part?

its an M3 X 8mm insert, but I am not sure if the 8mm is the length or diameter of the insert.

dont know anything about this mendel version but looking at your link i think it is 8mm o/d of the hobbing - the 3mm refers to the thread through the centre
not sure about the length but you can buy one here and see the o/d
