Tuning my Prusa I3

Sorry if this has been covered extensively, I'm not having much look with search>

I just finished my I3 Makerfarm build.

Coming from my Makergear M2 (which prints incredibly well) I'm having issues making the transition.

Here's what I'm having problems, and I hope someone can give me some advice.

I'm trying to change the steps on the extruder (which is extruding about 95mm when asked for 100)
Problem is, the I3 seems to put out too much plastic as it is, won't increasing the steps cause even more over-extrusion?

I know I can change it in flow control, but I'd like to get the firmware calibrated as closely as possible, and go from there.

Thanks

You need to set a line in the marlin arduino code.

In the config file

look for this line:
#define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {84,80.2,4042.8,800}

there is a good video on it, I would search youtube - prusa i3 calibration

sorry, I can't remember the address

Also in the config_adv.h file there is a place that says

#define D_FILAMENT 2.85

I'm not sure how this effects the printer.
