If you don't use a frame, how are you going to hold the tops of the z-axis rods in place?

I've been looking at some printable t-slot beams on thingiverse. Perhaps those might work for you?

Here is the link to the stl file for a frame someone has designed to be printed. If you make it let me know how it works, I am very interested in it.

Here's some more T-slot beams. I'm planning on using these. The 20x40 beams for the base of the printer, and 20x20 beams for the Z axis frame. [www.thingiverse.com]

Is this more like what you're looking for? It's a printable single plate for an i3.

There is a second prototype from the guy who designed it but honestly the first one looks more promising.

i ask for printing this frame at my local place. they are charging too much.
so it will be cheaper to get it cut into wood.
any one knows the dimensions ? or have drawing ?

Cheers !!
