MendelMax Z-axis motor Question
January 11, 2013 12:21PM
Hey Guys,

I'm building my second printer, a MendelMax 1.5 with lower mounted z-axis motors. I'm to the point of testing out the electrics and I noticed that the z motors, due to their orientation, cause the z-axis movement to be reverse of what I expected. Clicking +1mm in prontrface causes the z-axis to move down - which is the opposite of upper mounted motors.

I'm using printrboard with marlin. Just curious how others have dealt with this. Reverse the motor wires? Is there a setting I'm not aware of? Something else?

Thanks,
Bobby

There is a setting in marlin to invert the axis. I had to do this for my X axis too when I switched x ends to one where the motor is between the two bars facing backwards instead of hanging off the rear facing forwards. It's an easy 1 line change in configuration.h

Ah ha. Ok, thanks. You don't recall the name of the setting do you? If not, I'll dig it up.

I think I found it.

INVERT_Z_DIR

Thanks!
