What wattage?

Hey people

I am giving up trying to source an old PC to nick the PSU so have decided to buy one off ebay. They are surprisingly cheap anyway...

So, how many watts would give me sufficient room to grow?

The wiki states a 12V supply capable of delivering at least 5 Amps - giving us 60 Watts. This is of course sans Heated bed and only one extruder.

So, how many watts does one need for a decent heated bed and to add any extras like fans or additional extruders etc. Would 250W be sufficient or should I go for 450 - 500W?

Also note, the suppliers tend to advertise the total wattage that the PSU can supply. Read the small print to see what wattage the 12Volt supply can provide, the 5V supply and the -12Volt supply. (And any other voltage supplies) These are normally then added together to give the head line figure

250W is plenty unless you want a bed that warms up very quickly.
