i have just purchased the new rerap prusa i3 nice machine ,but I have made the bed longer and I wish to change the y axis ,looked at lots of videos' on you tube but they all seem to be the same thing you have to update the firmware !! I only need to change the y axis how do you look at the marlin firmware on the printer to adjust the y axis ,
can anyone help please

you do need to update the firmware if its a arduino based controller. But not on newer 32 bit controllers

(3,2,1.. queue dc42 pushing the duet like a broken record)

You need to know all your machine details to compile new firmware

If your lucky they provide a configuration.h if you not, you need to work it all out

Some values you can get out of it with the m503 (M503: Print settings), these include steps/mm , max feed rates etc
But things like direction inversion, thermistor types and dimensions you need to know.

This is the standard marlin configuration file [github.com] read threw it... if you you don’t know for you printer, you need to find out.

Line 336 onwards define the size.
