Pulley Spacers

I'm looking to stack 20T idler pulleys on a 5mm shaft.

I've tried sticking washers of all different types between them, but they're loose on the shaft and the OD is too big, therefore rubbing on the aluminium pulley flange.

I've printed 5x6x1 spacers in ABS and they fit fine, but I'd really prefer to use something that's a precision fit in metal.

There are RC car shims that will do it but they're expensive, and generic machining shims are 9mm OD which rubs as well.

I'd really love something that is metal, even aluminium, and just fits.

Anyone got a supplier or recommendation?

Can you get hold of OpenBuilds stuff where you are? They do aluminium spacers. Here is a link to the .com web site [openbuildspartstore.com].

5mm ID, 10mm OD (is that any good), and a range of lengths from 3 to 40mm. If 10mm OD is too big, I guess you could use a single washer on top to stop it rubbing.

Edit. They do what they call precision shims as well which are 1mm thick.

Couldn't you get some cheap aluminium tube in the right size and cut it to length?

I have a bunch of salvaged telescopic antennas just for this purpose. There's a good selection of diameters too...

If 7mm od would work, you could use shims from Misumi

Thanks for that.

My god that's one difficult and complicated website, but I'll order some of these and see how it goes.
