3 axis design

Here are some rubbish images of a machine I dismantled a while ago, the design is
very economical and could easily be a reprap, maybe it will be when I have time.

3 geard motors mounted on a plate, "could be swapped for steppers"
linear bearings but could be bushes

I think it would make a good reprap, it needs some bevel gears for the
Z axis and some sheet material to hold the shafts for the X axis but the part count is very low.

... i think the biggest problem you'll receive, will be bending of the structure with the supporting cables and filament.

I have a similar 2D-feeding in my SMD-Fineplacer amd another much stiffer XY-feeding with supported steelrods and bearings along them, what's good enough for pick'n'placing SMS's ... but your structure is much longer and not so stiff/rigid ...

The cables are all on the most ridged side, and I shall copy the Uprint idea
for fillament hadling, so very little drag.

took me 8 attempts to get inline images, thanks Jim.

Really cool design .. I'm guessing the belt from the third motor was attached to the side of the box ?.I like the bevel gear and having the motors all mounted in one place..
