X Endstop location with RUMBA board

Hi everyone. I have a quick question on a Prusa i3 frame I'm modifying/designing and just wanted to know if it matters whether the X endstop is located on the left or the right of the printer frame? I'm planning on using Marlin with a RUMBA board, and the design would be a tiny bit simpler, and wires shorter, if I could incorporate the x endstop on the same side the x-axis stepper motor is located.

Does the position matter, can the firmware deal with either location?

Marlin lets you have either max or min endstops, or both, so you should be OK.

Thanks for that 3dkarma. I guess also that the worst that could happen is to reverse the x-axis direction, meaning models will face to the back of the printer, rather than the front.
