AoI versions of Darwin parts

AoI versions of Darwin parts
September 09, 2007 02:43AM
As requested by Adrian on the main blog at [blog.reprap.org], I've started doing AoI versions of the Darwin printed parts. The ones I've done so far are available at [www.nmt.edu] if anyone wants to double check my work. I've diverged from the current .stl files in a few places, where AoI's way of doing things made following them difficult, but I'm pretty sure none of the deviations will have any functional impact.

To avoid duplication of effort, here's what I've converted so far:
Bearing-insert-180-Z.aoi
Bearing-insert-360-jam.aoi
Bed-clamp.aoi
Bearing-insert-360-run.aoi
Corner-bracket-vertical-bolt-plug.aoi
Z-Opto-Flag.aoi

In an email discussion, Adrian mentioned that the chamfered outer corners on one side of the bearing inserts are important, as it will help squeezing them into a tight fitting hole. These versions don't yet have that. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to accomplish this effectively in AoI, I'd be glad to hear them.

That's outstanding stuff Thomee. I'll redirect other volunteers to this thread.

Thomee - those parts are brilliant :-) I've put them in the repository at

[reprap.svn.sourceforge.net]

When I get a chance I'll make them up and check them in the machine.

Thanks!

Several people have now offered to help with this conversion.

The STL files to be converted are at:

[sourceforge.net]

(Check out the latest zip file of Cartesian Bot.)

And those that have been done are listed on this forum thread by those doing the work (thanks!) and, when they've been put back in the repository, are at:

[reprap.svn.sourceforge.net]

If you want to help, post what you do here so that others don't duplicate your efforts.

Thanks again to all the volunteers :-)

best wishes

Adrian

Also completed:
Diagonal-tie-bracket.aoi

For anyone else working on AoI versions of parts, check out the thread on my Drill script at [forums.reprap.org]
