Hexagonal grid in printed parts

Hello all,

I use Skeinforge with a BitsFromBytes Rapman. By default the printing uses an hexagonal grid to fill the printed shapes. Does this option give a sufficient strength to Mendel printed parts?

Thanks.

Well, in fact I understand now that the important parameter is not the infill pattern, but its solidity ("infill solidity"). Which infill solidity ratio should you suggest?

I have no experience with Mendel parts but I do a lot of things at 25% fill with ABS and they are strong enough for Darwin.

Ah, very interesting! It was just the reply I was looking for. If it's good enough for Darwin, I'm quite sure it's good for Mendel, isn't it?

BTW, which plastic did you use?

Thank you.

ABS but I am currently printing with PLA and that is what the machine at Bath is made from.

It's OK. I'm printing with ABS too.
