Heating Resisitor or Heating Wire

I am really hapy to have found this side. To beginn with I would like to excuse for my bad english. I want to built an Extruder. I have one question concerning the heating. In nearly all Extruders on this site the material is melted with a heating resistor. But is it also possible to heat the material with a heating wire which is turned round?

Kind Regards

This might work, depends on your design:
Same resistance wire that is used in e-cigarettes.

~$5.00 for 100 feet.
Kanthal Resistance Wire,
32 AWG Gauge A1,
13.75 Ohms/ft at room temp,
Dia 008 in. .20 mm,

That's how they used to be done and still are on some machines. What you are referring to is Nichrome wire and is what you should be looking for - its available everywhere.
