Thanks

I just think 50p per nut is outrageous. So far it looks like I will have to buy from the US or France. The French option looks good at 0.18 Euro each but the website is only in french so I am a little hesitant. At least no customs duty from France. Why no-one in the UK seems to sell these at a proper price I do not know.

Try looking for Metric Tab Weld Nuts. They are usually much cheaper but only load from the end. I've used thousands of them in 40mm extrusions.

The cheapest on Misumi France is 0.33€ (taxless) each for less than 500nuts !

I must be stupid, I can't even figure out how to use the Misumi web site!

Not much luck searching for weld nuts either.

@bobc You're not alone. I've had trouble figuring out that crazy website too.

I don't know if anyone else has tried this but I have successfully used 1/4" carriage bolts in 1" aluminum t-slot extrusion. The head of the bolt fits almost perfectly in the slot. Some of them require a tiny grind to fit. It is pretty easy and cheap as well. I have used the nuts in my clone of mendelmax 2.

With some tweaking, this might work.

I use m5 nuts in 20x20mm t-slot (5 or 6mm gap, I'm not sure) they work perfectly, but must be inserted from the ends.

What Konwiddak said-

An M5 full nut will slip quite snugly down the channel of 20X20 Bosch Rexroth 6mm slot

An M5 nut with a couple of flats filed/ ground will slip down V slots 5mm slot.

I sound like a cheapskate but it's surprising how many nuts you end up using.

BoschRexroth fittings - angle brackets etc. - come with M4 fixings but will take an M5 without modifying.

Mr alan richard

Your idea is....a great example of KISS.
The filed M5 is not as robust and easy to install as a regular T-nut but it's...dirt cheap.
And, I would say, better and easier to manufacture than a printed T-nut with a M3 nut insert.

thanks a lot

you can always get from china... if you plan in advance

I've ordered from M5 here before, seems fine.

Did the job and cheap as!

However, since China is 30 days away and when I need 10 more t-nuts I'm not that calm,
IMPORTANT ADDITION: If the filed flats are a little big bigger, you can insert the M5 just anywhere in the channel, not neccessary at the ends.
And this is a HUGE advantage, especially since I have my printer allready assembled.

So, till T-nuts arrive, filed M5 work just fine !!!
More savings :-)
